This one was not factory tuned at all!I had to trim copper wire at 1” intervals off the end of the antenna to get a decent SWR reading which was off the meter to start. After trimming off about 6 inches of wire the perfered SWR of 1.4 was achieved. This does not apply to all of these antenna! Some may be tuned correctly!The range of this antenna was about 5 miles without skip rolling. However I have talked to truckers on the East coast and in Arizona with me being in Texas. Thats not bad for a “dinky” antenna and being barefoot. (no amplifier).I use either 12ft or 18 ft coax with factory installed connectors for better results. No cutting or trimmingthe coax.”

Customer Review: “These Prostick 4 foot fiberglass antennae are just ad good or maybe better than the other *stick brand and they are definitely more economical. I’m installing 2 of these on the front fenders of my 2018 Ford F150 XLT in a co-phased setup on a Bearcat 980 SSB radio. I ordered this particular pair because they came with BLACK stainless steel heavy duty spring. This will compliment the subtle subdued appearance of my trim package. The only thing I consider a negative, is the red tip cap. It’s not a deal breaker but I will be changing them out with black ones. I like the tunable tips for field adjustment of the VSWR. This is a good feature that eliminates the possibility of trimming an antenna too much when tuning the antenna to the transceiver. These antennae have been used mainly by OTR truckers, and are usually mounted on the mirrors of their trucks. It has been many years since I was an active user of two-way radios but some things are not forgotten. My 40 plus years of experience in electronics has taught me to rely on proven techniques and technology. These antennae fit within those parameters.
